Short Courses

EUCAS 2017 is happy to announce that all Short Courses will be taking place!

Places are still available for all of them, and we wish to draw special attention to the course on RF Superconducting Cavities, offered for the first time at an Applied Superconductivity Conference.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to follow a specialized training on advanced topics that cannot be obtained otherwise! The lecturers are among the most qualified scientists in their field of research.

Click here and choose “EUCAS Short Course only” when you register or add the Short Course to your registration if you are coming to EUCAS 2017!

The price is 150 CHF for a full day of teaching on the CERN Campus.

Industry Session now confirmed!

EUCAS 2017 has the pleasure to announce that the Industry Session on Tuesday, 19 September 2017 has now been confirmed. The session will focus on “Superconductivity: From Industry to Society”, and will be the opportunity to confront the scientific community with the view of prominent personalities responsible for major scientific and industrial programs, under the ubiquitous pressure of a return of investment.

The speakers are:
  • Prof. Carlo Rubbia, CERN, Nobel Prize Laureate - Superconductivity: A Game Changer for the Industry of Energy
  • Dr. Frank Laukien, President/CEO Bruker Corporation - Investing in Superconductivity: The Industry of Science
  • Dr. John Levy, Hypres Chairman - Investing in Superconductivity: the Electronics Challenge
  • Dr. Jean-Luc Lancelot, Managing Director SIGMA PHI - Investing in Superconductivity: Large Scale Endeavours

Outreach Programme

Throught September, the University of Geneva and CERN are raising awareness regarding Superconductivity in various places around Geneva. The Outreach Programme covers educational events at Vernets and Place des Nations (exhibits and superconducting LHC cryostats magnets), at the Globe of Science and Innovation (public conference on electricity and magnetism), at CERN and at the University of Geneva (lectures and meetings with local high schools) and finally the highlight of a Public Lecture at the University Dufour by CERN’s Director General, Dr. F. Gianotti, during EUCAS 2017, on Tuesday, 19 September at 18:30.
