6th International Workshop on Numerical Modelling of HTS

The 6th International Workshop on Numerical Modelling of HTS will be held in Costa de Caparica, Portugal, from 26 to 29 June 2018. Costa de Caparica is a friendly traditional fishing village, with 15 km stretch of golden sand beaches, in the south bank of river Tagus. The historic and contemporary city of Lisbon is within a short distance range from Caparica and there are plenty of options to get there (by train, boat, bus or car).

The research and development of modelling tools and approaches is a fundamental topic in Superconducting Engineering, particularly when considering technologies based on High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) materials.

HTS materials pose complex challenges when designing and predicting the behaviour of devices, due to their thermal and electromagnetic dependence and non-linearities, hysteresis, anisotropy, high aspect ratio of wires, and interaction with other functional materials. Yet, unseen uses and performances have driven a global effort of research in HTS modelling.

Numerical modelling is a widely spread tool for dealing with the complexity presented by HTS technologies and the HTS Modelling Workshop aims to provide a common discussion forum for latest developments, innovations, challenges, and perspectives on this topic.

The Workshop will be followed by the 2nd International School on Numerical Modelling for Applied Superconductivity, therefore allowing for an exceptional, intensive and inspiring experience and networking opportunity mostly for young researchers, but also for scientists and engineers in this demanding field. Special fees, as well as an enriching cultural program, will be available for attendees of both events.

"We are looking forward to receiving you at the 6th International Workshop on Numerical Modelling of HTS."
